My Approach
At the heart of my work is the belief that meaningful change happens through a strong therapeutic relationship. Feeling safe, understood, and accepted is an important part of the therapeutic process, and I take the time to build a connection with each client before exploring deeper areas of support.
I believe therapy should be a collaborative experience that respects each person’s unique needs, personality, and pace. There is no one-size-fits-all approach; instead, I work alongside children, teens, young adults, and families to understand their experiences and find what feels most supportive for them.
Child-Centred Play Therapy
For children, play is their natural way of communicating and making sense of the world around them. Through Child-Centred Play Therapy, children are given the opportunity to express themselves, explore their emotions, and build confidence within a relationship where they feel accepted and understood.
Rather than expecting children to explain experiences they may not yet have words for, I follow their lead and allow them to communicate in a way that feels natural and developmentally appropriate.
Through play, children can explore their feelings, strengthen their sense of self, and develop new ways of understanding their experiences at their own pace.
A Relationship-Based Approach
My role is not to rush the process or focus only on challenges. Instead, I provide a supportive space where clients can explore their experiences, recognize their strengths, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves.
Together, we can work toward greater emotional awareness, confidence, and well-being in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.
Supporting the Mind and Body
I believe our experiences are reflected not only in our thoughts and emotions, but also through our bodies. When we feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stressed, our nervous system can respond in ways that may feel difficult to understand or manage.
Drawing from a mind-body and nervous system-informed perspective, I incorporate gentle body awareness to help clients better understand their experiences and develop a stronger connection with themselves.
This may include noticing physical sensations, exploring emotions as they arise, and discovering what helps them feel grounded, regulated, and supported.
Supporting Parents and Families
Parents play an important role in a child’s therapeutic journey. I value working collaboratively with parents by offering support, sharing observations, and helping them better understand their child’s experiences and needs.
My goal is to support the whole family by strengthening connection, fostering understanding, and creating opportunities for growth both inside and outside of therapy.
